The State Bank of India (SBI), India’s largest public sector bank, has announced a significant recruitment campaign for 2025, opening up over 18,000 vacancies for key roles such as Probationary Officers (PO), Junior Associates (Clerks), and Specialist Officers (SOs). This move underscores SBI’s commitment to maintaining robust banking operations and expanding customer services across its vast branch network in India.
For Probationary Officer, over 600 vacancies have been notified. There are customer handling, banking operations, and supervisory jobs. PO recruitment takes place in three steps: Preliminary Exam, Main Exam, and final Group Exercise/Interview round. The candidates have to clear all the three steps to make it to the final roll.
Maximum recruitment quota of over 14,000 vacancies is of Junior Associates cadre for Clerical cadre jobs. These are new as well as backlog posts. These are important positions for front-end banking operations like cash handling, customer dealing, and back-office processing. Recruitment process of Clerks is two-phased: Preliminary Examination and Main Examination. For all clearing mains, a Language Proficiency Test is conducted, to test fluency in the local language of the posting state involved.
Apart from this, appointment is also made for Specialist Officer positions, mostly for System Officers for technical and IT positions. There are some educational qualifications and corresponding work experience needed for these positions. It includes shortlisting and interview stage.
