Key Background
Defender OCTA Black Edition is the peak Land Rover off-road luxury vehicle. Following the recent refresh of the Defender lineup with heightened understatement design revisions and a bigger 13.1-inch touchscreen across the lineup, the OCTA emerged as the most powerful Defender yet. It continues this trend with the Black Edition allowing the OCTA’s power to shine in a chiseled, all-black look for authoritative road presence.
Inside the bonnet lies the same 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 powerplant with mild-hybrid technology. The engine produces an incredible 626 brake horsepower and 750 Nm of torque to launch the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Electronic speed limiter is capped at 250 km/h, placing it among the quickest and most potent luxury off-roaders available in the market today.
The Defender OCTA also features cutting-edge 6D Dynamics hydraulic suspension which improves handling dramatically by controlling pitch, roll, and dive. The technology, complemented by a further 28 mm increase in ride height and 68 mm of extra body width, improves on-road dynamics as well as off-road capability. The vehicle features 33-inch wheels, underbody protection in heavy-duty form, improved cooling, and high-performance Brembo brakes.
The outer look of the Black Edition is dominated by Narvik Black paint and gloss and satin black trim pieces. The exhaust tips, front grille, almost everything that is visible in between is painted black, which presents a menacing and aggressive look. Internally, the car boasts performance seats that utilize vibro-acoustic technology, upscale cloth and leather finishes, and sophisticated trim material such as chopped carbon fiber and satin black finishes. The large touchscreen infotainment and lavish materials help to elevate the interior up to par with the car’s super-SUV status. Land Rover combines unparalleled ability with elegant design and cutting-edge technology in the OCTA Black Edition, cementing its position as a contender to be reckoned with in ultra-luxury SUVs.
