Chaitali came up with the innovative green business idea of Jute Story Beyond Bars in an effort to revitalize jute and support the rehabilitation of prisoners. The journey was extraordinary and taxing—converting criminals into artisans and fighting for their social integration.
Chaitali disseminated the reformation story through participative engagement of prisoners in jute artefact and jute-diversified product production as a national and global speaker. Her switch to popularize and disseminate Jute through infinite projects, events, and campaigns created massive outreach, infusing flexibility to Jute application step by step, fostering demand within India and worldwide and societal acceptance of ex-offenders over discrimination and social stigma.
So far, over 5,000 convicts have been trained and educated in well-being classes. Others have started businesses after release, while others have been sent to work for rehabilitation by the Rakshak Foundation. Victims of acid attacks, survivors of domestic violence, and slum youth of city dwellers are also members of her organization and are given a chance at economic empowerment and dignity.
